Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
The gaming experience for all fans is a relatively different, but as most of the PC fans have encountered, one of the best games recently created is Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War. Released from the period between 2004 and 2008 (including all expansion packs to the original version) the game became a bestseller on the PC world market, logically being followed by a second part Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II. This game literally took over the HR Software office that I work at for about a week…Critics about the game (made by THQ and based on Games Workshops original tabletop game) were largely possitive -Game Spot rates the game with 8.8 out of 10 which indicates the satisfaction of the fans from the game as a whole and its components such as graphics and sound, gameplay and expansions.
The action in game takes place in the distant future where an expanding human Empire is being ruled by an Immortal Emperor, the living god for humans. Presented by the genetically modified supersoldiers -the Space Marines, the humans are facing new enemies that obstruct their expansion. The Orks, known from the gaming world and the science fiction and fantasy novels, are a brutal and battle-seeking race being put at the rist of loosing positions and planets from the massively expanding human Empire. Being betrayed by many of its soldiers, the human race is threatened by the Chaos Marines -ex Space marines that have turned to the dark forces and gods and searching for a way to defeat their greatest enemies -the humans and their godlike Emperor. Eldars, the race that has fought the Chaos forces before mankind appeared, are technologically advanced and significantly capable race that has its empire threatened by the other races in the game. Many new races would appear in the expansion sets of the game (the Imperial Guard, The Tau Empire, The Necrons and the Dark Eldar) making the action even more complicated and enriched in battles and sceinarios.
Being one of the best 3D strategies recently compared, Dawn of War is being played and approved by many of this genre’s lovers. The high rankings the game receives indicate that its detailed animations and campaign sceinarios are largely possitively accepted making the game an influential piece of work in the sphere of 3D strategies and PC gaming as a whole.
